Salzkammergut-region

It must be a very special area where an archduke marries the daughter of a postmaster, where an emperor spends 82 summer holidays, where until today poachers are considered rebels rather than thieves, where urban visitors feel like locals, where for over 150 years actors, poets and politicians have been having their summer retreats, and where even rainy days are charming. An area which the author Hans Weigl dubbed “Austria’s tenth province”: the Salzkammergut.
